Understanding Your Uber Eats Manager Analytics

UberEats take out delivery in paper bag

As a restaurant owner, one of the tools you have to collect data on your business performance is the delivery service platforms you participate in. If you deliver food Uber Eats, for example, you will have access to a dynamic dashboard presenting you with a wealth of information. But what data is actually included? And how can you use this data to your advantage? Let’s take a closer look at how understanding your Uber Eats Manager analytics can help you make better decisions about virtually every aspect of your business.

Uber Eats Manager

The Uber Eats Manager app features a sidebar menu where you will see “Analytics” and “Insights” options. Click on the “Analytics” menu item to view your data in three separate categories:

The Sales Tab in the Uber Eats Manager dashboard is extremely helpful. You can either get a general overview of your restaurant’s performance or zoom in to get an hourly play-by-play. You’ll also be able to view “Leaderboards,” which will tell you which locations are performing the best and which items are top sellers.

You can also track your sales over a specific time period and for a specific location, if you have more than one. You are able to toggle between Sales, Orders, and Ticket Size for direct comparison. Dragging the cursor over the chart lets you compare sales for current and previous time periods (you can specify the date ranges for comparison).

Sales data can help you decide which menu items to keep and optimize stock for preferred dishes. It can also help you staff busier locations adequately to reduce wait times on orders.

The Sales tab in the Uber Eats Manager lets you quickly view your total sales and compare them to prior time periods. Here, we can see that total sales are up for this merchant compared to last period. We can also view order volumes and ticket sizes, as well as download sales reports for analysis. Next to the “Sales” tab in the UberEats Manager, you will see “Operations.” Here, you can keep track of things like completed orders, missed order rates, inaccurate order rates, and your online rate. This data is used by Uber Eats along with customer reviews to award Top Eats status to merchants. You can download individual reports on data you want to review further.

Operations data can help you identify areas to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction. If orders are consistently inaccurate, for example, it may be a training issue or inadequate staffing. Or, if your online rate is dropping, a technical issue may be to blame.

The Customers tab in the Uber Eats Manager dashboard offers valuable information about the behavior of your patrons. You can view a conversion funnel, which traces views of your restaurant down to actual orders placed. You’ll be able to see how many repeat customers you have and what they are ordering, as well as new customer data and preferences.

Customer data can provide some of the most valuable insights for your restaurant. After all, satisfied clients are what keep a business afloat. Understanding who is buying from you, when and what they order, and why they keep coming back paints a picture of your target audience and helps you understand where to focus your marketing strategy.

Insights Option on Uber Eats Manager

Below the Analytics menu item is the “Insights” option. This is an area where you will be offered suggestions for improving performance based on certain metrics. For example, if you are falling behind the competition, Uber Eats may suggest creating a promotion and help you implement the offer directly on the platform.

While this is helpful, the Insights area of Uber Eats Manager is still in Beta testing and fairly limited in scope. In order to make the most of your data, it is still best to hire a professional  analyst.

Actionable Insights for Your Uber Eats Manager Analytics

Hiring an analytics firm to help you manage and interpret your Uber Eats Manager analytics is a crucial step to success. As a busy restaurant owner, constantly monitoring your data is not necessarily an option. Yet, having an eye on your dashboard at all times can mean the difference between a simple view of your menu versus an actual order.

You need someone in your corner that will not only monitor the data, but who can also make sense of it. Why, for example, would someone put an item in their cart, only to never go through with an order? A skilled data analyst can answer these types of questions and give you ways to address them.

Furthermore, a data analyst can help you customize your Uber Eats Manager dashboard so that it makes sense to you. You can choose the visuals and metrics that are most meaningful and that help you learn the most information in the shortest amount of time.

Meanwhile, you can be sure your data analyst is continually looking for ways to improve the dashboard and prioritizing the security of your data.
